Jubilee Party officials in Nyanza have extended an invitation to President Uhuru Kenyatta for a campaign tour of the region.
Kisumu JP chairman Zuberi Liete said Nyanza residents should accord the President the first-class reception just like the people of Kiambu who Tuesday gave NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga a rousing welcome.
Speaking to the Star on Wednesday, Liete said the overwhelming welcome Opposition leader was shown portrayed Kiambu residents are democratic residents and appreciate political tolerance.
"We want Nyanza people to copy them and welcome Uhuru on his vote-hunting missions,” he said on Wednesday.
"Uhuru should appreciate how his backyard received the Opposition leader and that's why we want him to make inroads in all counties perceived to be Opposition’s strongholds so he can secure more votes."
The Jubilee official stressed that every presidential candidate should be allowed to sell his policies without being heckled or attacked.
President Kenyatta is expected to visit Homa Bay County to launch the Mbita-Rusinga Island Bridge, built by a Chinese contractor at a cost of Sh1.5 billion.
Area Senator Moses Kajwang’ has maintained that Deputy President William Ruto should be barred from visiting the county.
"We are telling the President to exclude Ruto in his entourage during the visit,” Kajwang' said recently.
