Amani National  Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has said that President Uhuru Kenyatta was on the right track in the fight against corruption but he lost the war along the way.

In an exclusive interview with a local station, the Luhya spokesman said that the Head of State had good intentions for the people of Kenya but cartels have overwhelmed him.

According to Mudavadi, corruption cases in the nation have reached unprecedented levels and UhuRuto have already given up on the fight.

"Uhuru had good intentions but somehow eased off the peddle on the war against corruption, allowing it to spiral completely out of his control and finally gave up. He is now a prisoner of corruption cartels," he said, as quoted by the Standard.

During the interview, Mudavadi claimed that leaders from the ruling side have been attempting to break up the opposition as they seek to dethrone President Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto from power in the August elections.

He noted that it is interesting to hear some of them claiming that the National Super Alliance (NASA) is a project of the ruling party.

The former Deputy President further insisted that he is the best candidate NASA can front as the flag bearer.
