Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has expressed fears his life could be in danger.Joho says anything could happen to him following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s remarks during the launch of Mtongwe Ferry in Mombasa."Joho should not play with us, if he plays with us we will teach him a lesson," Uhuru said on Monday. The ODM deputy party leader was barred by a contingent of GSU police officers from attending the presidential function in his county. He now says the President’s remarks were chilling and a direct threat to his life."The President said he will deal with me. This means anything can happen to me. It is a direct threat and it is not easy to handle a direct threat from a head of state," said Joho as reported by Standard. The outspoken governor, however, insisted he will not cease criticising the Jubilee government. In a statement, Joho dismissed the President’s statement that Mombasa County government had been allocated Sh40 billion since 2013.He said his government has only received Sh17 billion and demanded the “Sh23 billion balance” from Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich.Joho said his administration received Sh4.2 billion in 2013/2014 fiscal year, Sh4.6 billion in 2014/2015, Sh5.2 billion in 2015/2016 and Sh6.7 billion this financial year.
