Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) secretary general Francis Atwoli has expressed disappointment with the way president Uhuru Kenyatta is ‘fighting’ Mombasa governor Hassan Joho.
Lately, Joho has been facing intimidation from various state agencies coming in the wake of an altercation between him and the president.
The Head of State had earlier vowed to teach the ODM deputy party leader a lesson if he continues to criticise the government.
According to Atwoli, Uhuru’s advisors were misleading him on how to handle the ODM governor in public, costing his presidency.
“He’s making him (Joho) a more popular politician in this country than even himself,” Atwoli said.
“He is now the kingpin politically at the Coast and he has been made one. Now the whole political attention in Kenya is at the Coast,” he added.
Speaking during the JKL show on Citizen TV, Wednesday, the Cotu boss pointed out that the president needed to pull out from Joho’s woes and let his secretariat handle the matter.
“If I was president’s advisor I would tell the president to keep off from Joho,” he noted.
“You need to have strong political party secretariat to handle such propaganda,” Atwoli added.
