President Uhuru Kenyatta says he has not endorsed Peter Kenneth for the position of Nairobi governor.
The president, who was speaking on Thursday at a press conference ahead of Jubilee Party nominations countrywide, recently asked Murang’a people to pray for Peter Kenneth to win Friday’s Jubilee primaries in the Nairobi gubernatorial race. President Kenyatta said he asked Gatanga voters, during a funeral ceremony, to wish their former MP well, as well as other Jubilee gubernatorial hopefuls — who include Senator Mike Sonko and former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru. “I am calling on you Kirwara residents to pray for your son so that he can win the Jubilee ticket in Nairobi,” Uhuru had said.Mr Kenneth, a 2013 presidential candidate, supports President Kenyatta for re-election. The former Gatanga MP will face stiff competition from Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, who has vowed not to step down for his opponent.
