Rivalry between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho  could intensify on Sunday as the two politicians try to consolidate Coastal region votes.

While Kenyatta is banking on support from the locals having toured the region several times, Joho on the other ahnd is working hard to deliver for his party Raila Odinga.

Already, Jubilee team has booked Tononoka grounds which they used about two months ago while Joho has made his threat real bu booking Mvita grounds barely 2 kilometers from where Kenyatta will be addressing his supporters.

Recently, Joho who also doubles as ODM Deputy leader vowed to hold parallel rallies in the Coast whenver Kenyatta visits and the latest development confirms his commitment.

In more than one occassion, Joho had been locked out of Kenyatta's state functions in Mombasa, a move that at times attarcted condemninations from a section of the public.

And his trouble with the President hit a new low when he had his security guards withdraw in more than two occassions after an altercation with President Kenyatta although State House operatives denied the claims.

Also, Joho was subjected to immense probe from Anti-Corruption agencies, Criminal Investigations and even Kenyan National examination Council over alleged forgery of certificates.

In 2013, the region voted overwhelmingly for the opposition ODM but the dynamic could change due to inroads made by Jubilee administration.
