President Uhuru Kenyatta and his fierce critic Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho are expected to share a podium tomorrow for the first time after the bitterly fought August 8 election.
Uhuru, the Star reports, will officially open the Mombasa Agricultural Society of Kenya Show at Mkomani, Nyali. The show begins from today to September 3.Joho had been barred twice in the run-up to August 8 elections from attending Uhuru’s functions, during re-launch of the Mtongwe ferry and the standard gauge railway.He had said he does not need an invitation to attend the state function.At the same time, Uhuru will open an induction workshop for governors and their deputies in Mombasa.The Council of Governors (COG), which is among the key organisers, will announce the date of the workshop after the Supreme Court rules on NASA’s petition challenging Uhuru’s reelection.The induction was set to begin next Tuesday but the CoG postponed it indefinitely. Deputy President William Ruto was to close it on Thursday.According to the programme, which will not be changed, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho will share the podium with the President. Joho will invite Uhuru to make his speech after his welcoming remarks.
