President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to make a turn-around tour to the lakeside city of Kisumu in what some ODM leaders have referred to as Peace Project intended to unite the country.
Though details of the tour are scanty by a local newspaper, The Standard, has confirmed the visit.
The president is expected to address a rally at Jomo Kenyatta Sports ground.
According to The Standard, The ODM party chairman, and leader of the minority in parliament, John Mbadi, on Saturday confirmed the tour was imminent though he did not reveal the exact dates of the whirlwind tour.
According to John Mbadi, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga were still waiting for the conclusion of Kenya Peace Project being put together by a team of experts appointed by the two leaders.
He said that the Peace project will not be limited to Nyanza but will also be extended to other regions of the country to bring national healing.
"The President's planned visit to Nyanza and the rest of the country is under the Peace Project. It is no longer a Raila-Uhuru affair but a national project," confirmed Mr. Mbadi.
Mr. Mbadi also revealed that the visit is expected to fast-track development projects in the region which have for a long time stalled after being overlooked.
"In as much as development programmes are planned through the Parliamentary budget, several projects in Nyanza have been overlooked for years," Mr. Mbadi said.
