A latest poll released Wednesday, August 2, 2017 shows if elections were to be held today president Uhuru Kenyatta would be re-elected in the first round.
According to the poll conducted by Centre for African Progress (CAP), Uhuru leads with 53 per cent while the National Super Alliance flag bearer Raila Odinga follows him with 43 per cent.
“Three per cent of the people who responded were undecided or they preferred another candidate such as Abduba Dida and Ekuru Aukot. It is not really about campaigns at this point but about getting closer to elections and voters are making up their mind most of them thinking it’s either going to be Kenyatta or Odinga,” the firm’s head of operations Abel Oyieyo stated while releasing the finding at a Nairobi hotel, Wednesday.
The survey further reveals the president has a lot of support in Central, North Eastern, and Eastern while Raila leads in Nyanza and Western.
The pollster noted coast region is a battleground for the two.
The CAP poll which saw 9,995 respondents sampled across the country, was conducted between July 28 and August 1.
