President Uhuru Kenyatta watched in disbelief as a section of Gusii leaders scrambled for food in Nakuru State Lounge on Wednesday.
At least 2000 leaders selected from both Kisii and Nyamira Counties had honoured Uhuru’s invitation to discuss strategies ahead of October 17th elections.
Moments after Uhuru’s maiden speech, a group of leaders physically struggled to access food when they were informed that it was not enough to carter for all.
An eye witness says Uhuru, who also took a swipe at Chief Justice David Maraga, was still hanging around the State Lounge during the ugly scenario.
“They were informed that the food was almost over despite long queues. They decided to wrestle with ordinary people for food as Uhuru watched,” said Jackson Monda, a delegate from Kisii.
He added:”They had pursued one of the leaders who allegedly had been given money to give them as transport only to realize the food was almost over.”
Some of deliberations of the meeting included starting grassroots campaigns in both counties that would increase Uhuru’s stake.
