President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to host his Tanzania counterpart John Pombe Magufuli in Nairobi before the two tour Nyanza region, opposition chief Raila Odinga's political bedrock.
Although the date for the visit has not been publicised, Raila on Tuesday met a group of elected leaders from the lakeside region who have been tasked to plan the two president's visit which Raila himself will be part of.
Among Nyanza leaders the former prime minister met at his Capitol Hill office on Tuesday include Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang' and former Rongo MP and seasoned politician Dalmas Otieno who lost his MP seat during the August polls.
The team led by Kajwang' and Otieno has also been tasked to plan the expected visit by former US President Barack Obama to K'Ogelo in Siaya County when he jets to the country on July 16.
Obama will open an NGO headed by his sister Dr Auma Obama.
In a Tuesday tweet, Raila said of Uhuru's and Magufuli's tour as well as Obama's visit: "This morning I met with leaders from Nyanza to brainstorm on the upcoming visit by President Barack Obama and the planned visit to Nyatike by Presidents Uhuru Kenyatta and John Magufuli."
Nyantike hosts Migingo Island which has been at the centre of diplomatic tensions between Kenya and Uganda. The ownership of the Island has not been resolved and both countries claim ownership to it.
