President Uhuru Kenyatta has resorted to forming a new team that will oversee Jubilee’s campaigns in the Maasai land following defections of leaders from the area to NASA.
The team is set to tame the growing revolt in the area.
“The President and Deputy President have been doing some soul-searching to understand why they have tried to appease the region with government appointments and flagship projects, yet the people are still unhappy,” a source close to the presidency disclosed to a local daily.
“What happened in Narok during Ole Ntimama's burial, when government officials were ridiculed, is said to have offended the President and his Deputy,” the source added.
It is believed that the team will ensure Kajiado, Narok and Samburu counties do not support the opposition and vote for Jubilee during the August 8 election.
