President Uhuru Kenyatta has affrmed his administration's commitment to improve the fishing industry in the country.
Speaking on Wednesday during his tour of Homa Bay county, the Head of State promised to reclaim Migingo Island which has been at the centre of a diplomatic row between Kenya and Uganda.
Uhuru maintained that tiny island belongs to Kenya, and was committed to ensure that the country reclaims it.
“You and I know that Migingo is ours, in Kenya. As we are speaking this moment, there are groups of expertise who are mapping the boundaries to set the record straight. In due course, Migingo will be ours and you will start activities of fishing in the area again,” he said.
The visit saw President Kenyatta officially open various projects, including the Sh1bn Mbita-Rusinga bridge.
He also pledged to construct more roads in Nyanza region.
