Nominated MP Oburu Oginga has said President Uhuru Kenyatta means well for the country.
Speaking during the funeral of former nominated MP Mark Too in Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County on Monday, Oburu urged Uhuru to use the instruments of power at his disposal to ensure peace prevails in the country in the run-up to the August elections.
"President Uhuru is my friend and I know he means well for this country. I want to urge him to use the instruments of power at his disposal to make sure there is peace during the next general election," he added.
Oburu, however, accused Uhuru of being a hindrance to the endorsement of Raila by retired president Daniel Moi as the presidential candidate in 2002 saying they were naive to believe Moi could endorse Raila.
"We believed, naively, that Moi was going to endorse Raila for president later to realise that Uhuru was the stumbling block," Oburu said.
The MP also praised the late Too for being a good channel of communication between Moi and his late father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, hailing the former as a peace lover.
