Despite his Kisii tour being relatively calm, President Uhuru Kenyatta had a day to forget in Keroka, a town situated along Kisii-Nyamira border.
Earlier, Uhuru had addressed a group of enthusiast supporters at Masimba and seized the opportunity to issue cheques to IDPs after a decade in waiting.
But his convoy to Keroka town was meant with resistance as angry locals protested the hiked prices of basic commodities which Jubilee government promised to tackle.
Upon addressing the crowd, Uhuru was interrupted periodically and had to cut short his speech to allow local leaders calm the angry locals.
Nonetheless, the head of state managed to address the gathering and assured them of his commitment to tackle daily challenges facing his government.
“I know we have a myriad of challenge but I am committed to solve them. We should work together as a team to make Kenya great.
“It is our collective responsibility and I am happy that we shall walk together,” Uhuru added, insisting that Jubilee deserves a second term.
Prior to his tour, a group of angry youths had burnt Jubilee campaign posters in Kisii town and engaged police in running battle for over an hour.
