At the East African Community Heads of State Summit in Kampala, the two heads of state met at the sidelines despite recent border row.

"Held a meeting with Tanzanian President John Magufuli on the sidelines of EAC Summit in Uganda,' Uhuru wrote on his Facebook.

Recently, Tanzania tightened her borders along Namanga, restraining Kenyan businessman from entering the country with reports indicating that Dar es salaam authorities seized chicken from Kenyan traders.

Also, last year, Magufuli sparked a row when he seized cattle belonging to Kenyan Maasai herders and threatened to auction them.

"Tanzania is not a grazing land and if you think so, we shall auction these cattle. Let everyone respect our respective internal rules," he fired warning.

Ideally, Magufuli is a close ally of Kenya's opposition leader Raila Odinga while Uhuru is a close friend to Magufuli's opponent, Edward Lowassa.
