President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged religious leaders across the country to pass the message of peace and harmony to their congregants as the country heads to electioneering period.
Speaking at State House, Nairobi, when he was paid a courtesy call by members of the Nomiya Church from Nyanza, Uhuru asked them to be agents of peace.
“I ask religious leaders to help us in preaching peace and uniting the country. Let us be agents of peace, unity and acceptance,” the president said, Tuesday.
The Head of State also asked Kenyans to leave in harmony adding that this will help the country prosper.
“Kenya needs all of us. We cannot build the country if even one single community is left behind. That is what our constitution stands for,” Uhuru noted.
“God put us together for us to enjoy, to learn and to benefit from our diversity for our mutual progress and prosperity,” he added.
On their part, members of the Nomiya church guaranteed the president of their support.
“We are praying for you and for continuity as well as peace during the electioneering period,” said Archbishop Olali.
