On Wednesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta met with Miss World Kenya 2017, Magline Jeruto at the State House in Nairobi.
Jeruto finished top five in the Miss World Contest which took place in Sanya, China on November 18.
She met with the Head of State just a few hours after an interview with Citizen TV and called upon the government to support Miss World franchise holder, Terry Mungai, as she continue to carry out the annual national pageant.
During her interview Jeruto explained how many had doubted her and even labeled her as 'not beautiful'. However, she inisted that she would not allow the negative comments to effect her and would continue to pursue her dreams.
"I was cyber-bullied recently. It happened two months ago, when i was crowned Miss World Kenya. I came across some really, really nasty comments. Some people were saying, she's not beautiful, she is too dark to become Miss Kenya and that we have really beautiful light-skinned ladies who can represent Kenya in the global competition," Jeruto said.
She further highlighted how she is proud to be African and that she is comfortable in her own skin.
