President Uhuru Kenyatta has mourned the death of Mzee Letoya Magelo, father to Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Alex Ole Magelo.

In his condolence message by State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu, the head of state described Mzee Magelo as "a principled leader who never shied away from stating his position concerning the welfare of the Maasai." 

Kenyatta further recounted Mzee Magelo's time as a veterinarian, praising him on his services to the community on matters animal keeping. 

''He largely influenced the community thinking on the treatment and keeping of animals, thereby preserving their wealth,'' Kenyatta said.
