President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a message of condolence to the family of Mzee Letoya ole Magelo who died on Tuesday at his home in Narok County.
Mzee Letoya, 91, was the father of Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Alex Sanaika ole Magelo.
Uhuru in his condolence message said Mzee Magelo was a principled leader who never shied away from stating his position concerning the welfare of the Maasai.
“He largely influenced the community thinking on the treatment and keeping of animals, thereby preserving their wealth,” said the President in a statement.
The President pointed out that Mzee Magelo would always be remembered for his forthrightness and commitment to uplifting the lives of his community.
He said Mzee Magelo, who served the country as a veterinarian, ensured the Maasai changed their perception on animal husbandry.
He prayed to God to give the bereaved assured the family of his prayers and support during this difficult time.
