No sooner had Benjamin Netanyahu stepped out of the glossy black Land Cruiser V8 than he was met by a smiling President Uhuru Kenyatta and his glamorous wife Margaret Kenyatta.
Dispensing with formality, the two leaders did not squander the opportunity to display their bromance for all to see.
''Benjamin welcome back. We are really happy that you are here with us.'' Uhuru told his friend as they locked in a warm embrace.
''Wonderful to be back. This is unbelievable,'' Netanyahu said.
As the president took the Israeli Premier on a tour of State House, he took Netanyahu's hand into his, another illustration of the fact that these were not just two leaders but tight friends.
''It has been hard but we are back,'' Kenyatta told Benjamin as they pounded the State House corridors.
As he escorted him after the ceremony, they launched into a conversation about democracy.
The blowing wind and the shuffling of feet muffled the conversation but we managed to get a sentence or two.
''Democracy means that people decide...'' Uhuru told Netanyahu.
