President Uhuru Kenyatta has nominated Noordin Mohamed to take over from Keriako Tobiko as the new Director of Public Prosecutions.
The President announced the move through a tweet.
"I have conveyed to the National Assembly the nomination for vetting and approval of Justice Paul Kihara Kariuki as Attorney General; and Noordin Mohamed Haji as Director of Public Prosecutions," he tweeted.
The nominee is the son to Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji.
Noordin was among three candidates forwarded to Uhuru to pick one.
Others were Lucy Kambuni and Jacob Nyakundi.
