President Uhuru Kenyatta has declared Meru County a Jubilee zone moments after NASA brigade made forays to the vote rich region.
Last week, NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga received heroic welcome in the region perceived as Jubilee stronghold leading to anxiety within Kenyatta’s camp.
But in his two days tour that culminated on Saturday, Kenyatta said opposition would ‘waste’ fuel should they continue pitching tent in the region.
“I saw someone claiming that he will score from this region. I want to assure him that he is wasting his fuel because this is our stronghold.
“I don’t think the Meru people will vote riddles. Our development record is quite clear and everyone knows that Jubilee has transformed this region,” said Kenyatta.
Promising to do more should he be reelected, Kenyatta waived bills owed by both Miraa and Coffee farmers in the region.
In his several stopovers, Uhuru avoided meddling with local politics owing to the bitter rivalry between governor Peter Munya and senator Kiraitu Murungi, both who are going for governorship position in August elections.
