President Uhuru Kenyatta officially commissioned Two Rivers, the 'largest' mall in Kenya located along Limuru road, Nairobi.
The multi-billion mall was first opened to the public on Valentine’s Day, February 14, and has since attracted more than 35,000 visitors.
Speaking during the official launch, Uhuru noted his administration was committed to creating an enabling environment that ease doing business in the country.
“We remain fully committed to reforms that ease life for business, and indeed my administration has just prepared a national trade development policy whose aim it is to improve our competitiveness,” he said, Friday.
“The policy recognises the role of the private sector as the driver of economic development, and has created a platform for developing an enabling and business friendly, legal and regulatory framework for our trade sector,'' he added.
The mall's Board chairman Dr Chris Kirubi said it would create job opportunities for over 10,000 young people when complete.
The mall which hosts over 200 stores has attracted both international and local investors, including new local brands such as Nove Coffee Roasters and The Designer Studio.
The second phase of the project will begin before mid, this year.
