President Uhuru Kenyatta has spoken for the first time on the presidential petition that has been filed against him at the Supreme court.

Through his lawyer Mr Fred Ngatia, Uhuru rubbished the petition filed by activist Okiya Omtatah saying it failed to provide sufficient evidence to support the claims.

In his petition, Omtatah argued that the repeat poll was not held in accordance with the Constitution because of opposition leader Raila Odinga's withdrawal.

"The petitioner cannot claim a legitimate exception on behalf of NASA. In any event, there was no legitimate exception on the part of the party that this 'withdrawal' would lead to fresh nominations," said Ngatia.
