The Nairobi city county government has continually blamed its inability to come up with major projects during the four years they have been in power because of the national government failure to pay Sh72 billion debt.
On Tuesday, while appearing on NTV's comic interview show Wicked Edition hosted by comedian Doctor Kingori, Nairobi Deputy governor Jonathan Mueke said the debt the national government has failed to pay would ensure massive development projects can be erected in the city.
"It only costed Sh26 billion to construct Thika Super Highway, and the national government owes us Sh72 billion. Imagine if they pay us we will build like five Thika Super Highways and decongest the city," said Mueke.
Mueke took the opportunity to once again appeal to President Uhuru Kenyatta to pay the debt.
