President Uhuru Kenyatta has ordered for immediate repossession of National Youth Service(NYS) land which was illegally acquired by various entities across the country.

Speaking in Ruaraka,Nairobi on Thursday,  the head of State said the government has a plan to ensure employment , good housing and food security and that it can only be achieved when the tracts of land stolen are returned to the service.

He said that the resource will then be used to train more youth more so those who desire to venture in the agricultural sector which is key in creating jobs for young people.

“The land will be put in good  use so as to enable our youth learn agricultural skills as well as start farming which we all know is a pillar in our economy,” said the President.

He also  lauched the NYS ‘Tuko Tayari’ campaing at the NYS Textile and Garment Institute located in Ruaraka which is aimed at imparting skills to the youth which will enable wthem to grow the economy.

The move is in line with the President’s Big Four agenda which include affordable healthcare, manufacturing, affordable housing and food security.

According to him, the land when recovered will also be used to build affordable houses and expand training programmes for the youth adding that land in Tana River County will be handed to the NYS for commercial agricultural activities.

Additionally, the Head of State directed that security agencies’ uniforms be made at the institute so that youths graduating from the service can secure employment.
