The Nairobi County government has announced an indefinite closure of Uhuru Park.
In a Tuesday notice, Governor Mike Sonko said the recreation park will undergo renovation.
The closure comes six days before the planned swearing-in of National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga as the people's president.
NASA booked the park for the ceremony scheduled for January 30, but there have been reports that the Nairobi Business Community, led by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, also made a booking.

The group said it wants to hold a free, public medical camp.
"Uhuru Park Grounds is scheduled to undergo phased improvement works in order to enhance recreation usefulness to its visitors," reads the notice by acting county secretary Leboo ole Morintat.
NASA leaders have however said they have several options where the Odinga swearing in will take place.
The opposition maintains it does not and will not recognize Uhuru Kenyatta as president.
