Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichun’gwa is calling for peace and coordination in the upcoming Madaraka day that will be held on Wednesday June 1.
Kimani, who was accompanied by Ol Karao MP David Kiaraho, the former Head of Civil Service Francis Kimemia, Kiambu women representative Annah Nyokabi and Kikuyu Ward Representative Binary Wainaina urged Kiambu residents to shun from anti-IEBC riots.
Ichungw’a, who was attending a Thanksgiving ceremony held at PCEA Kimuri Church on Sunday condemned the CORD principals for their planned rally to be held on Madaraka Day at Uhuru Park.
“I would want the Inspector General Joseph Boinnet to authorize Uhuru Park to be used for prayers during the Madaraka Day. If they have to hold demonstrations or their rallies at Kibera and not within Central Business Centre,” he said.
“There is no value for holding a parallel rally on Madaraka Day, which is a solemn day for reflecting on the day Kenya attained self-independence,” he added.
He said that it is worrying that the political class is increasingly involved in activities that raise temperatures and create anxiety among Kenyans.
Ichung’wa also urged the CORD supporters to respect the government especially the office of the president, seconding Ann Nyokabi in urging the Kilifi Women Representative to apologize to the president for her disrespectful comment.
