President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged nurses to return to work as the government looks for a solution over their salaries.
He expressed confidence that once the Council of governors hold their first meeting the matter will be solved.
“I ask you to help me plead with our nurses to return to work,” said Kenyatta.
Uhuru made the pleading when he a Cancer Technology Centre at Kenyatta National Hospital on Thursday.
He said the government will open up six new cancer center fight communicable diseases.
“These new facilities will stamp the government’s commitment on the fight against cancer which is a number one killer in the country,” he said.
Nurses' strike entered its 81st day today.
KNUN secretary general Seth Panyako nurses will not go back to work until their CBA is implemented.
“Nurses in this country are willing to stretch the strike even for one year if they are not listened to,” said Panyako.
