A section of Gusii leaders have raised fears that President Uhuru Kenyatta could be plotting to kick out Chief Justice David Maraga following executives open defiance of court orders.
Similar fears were also raised when Uhuru made new appointments to the JSC, a body mandated to instill discipline at the judiciary.
Led by Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati, the leaders accused the state of negatively targeting the Gusii community and warned of severe consequences.
"He (Uhuru) is busy using proxies to fight the judiciary. He wants a situation where puppets control the show and this is unacceptable," Arati said.
He added: "As a community, we are monitoring the situation and that cannot happen. Time has come for establishment to respect marginalised communities. Let Maraga do his job."
Jubilee party through Secretary General Raphael Tuju last week wrote to the CJ complaining of alleged bias by the judiciary.
A fortnight ago, a charged Maraga demanded that government and private citizens respect court orders, a move that did not go well with authorities.
