NASA presidential running-mate Kalonzo Musyoka has poked holes in President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto’s onslaught campaign in his Ukambani backyard.
This is after the Jubilee duo dismissed Kalonzo's Ukambani leadership saying he cannot help the community.
Kalonzo offered his rejoinder, laughing off Uhuru Kenyatta over his leadership in Gatundu.
Musysoka distanced himself from any underdevelopment in the region and argued that the past regimes of Presidents Jomo Kenyatta, Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki are the ones to blame.
“Ironically, even as the President and his deputy launched a tirade of attacks on me, his [Uhuru’s] own Gatundu backyard fares no better than most parts of Ukambani and other rural areas of Kenya in general,” Kalonzo said.
He accused the president of being the poor leader as his Gatundu backyard, linking the 'widespread' jigger infestation to Uhuru's leadership.
"Abject poverty, characterised by the debilitating jigger menace, as well as alcoholism and drug abuse pervade the area that so far prides itself on having produced two Presidents — Jomo and Uhuru,” he said.
Kalonzo said he was reelected four times as the Mwingi North MP, an indication that that residents had confidence in his leadership.
“They are trying too late to curry favours with a completely disgusted electorate that has already made up its mind to reject the extremely inept, blatantly corrupt and shamelessly tribal Jubilee regime on August 8,” the Wiper leader said.
