In his 63 page speech during the State of the Nation address, President Uhuru Kenyatta continued to defend his decision to work with Raila Odinga, his former rival.
Before that, the president asked for forgiveness from among Kenyans adding that the country could not continue surviving the harsh political environment.
Just like when they met in Murang'a last week, Uhuru did not however reveals the content of his agreement with Raila even though he seized the opportunity to praise him.
"When he and I met earlier this year, we agreed to work together to strengthen the unity of our country. We hoped to emphasize then that collaboration comprises both competition and disagreement.
"We did not immediately solve all Kenya's most pressing problems nor did we see eye-to-eye on every proposed answer," said Uhuru on his deal with Raila.
Throughout his speech, Uhuru portrayed Raila as a statesman adding that he will work with him to foster unity across the country.
While it is not clear on what role Raila will play in government, a constitutional amendment bill shows introduction of Chief Cabinet Secretary post, equivalent to Prime Minister portfolio.
