Barely a week after Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu petitioned for the removal of Chief Justice David Maraga, President Uhuru Kenyatta has moved to 'protect' the judge.
The Head of State has requested Wambugu to withdraw the petition despite the fact he understands his pain on the verdict.
"I understand your pain and action but we have an election to win. That has to be our focus. Leave the courts alone," said Uhuru.
In his address to central leaders at Sagana State Lodge on Friday, Uhuru noted they want peace and that Wambugu should "let go".
"All that we want is for the will of the people to prevail," he added.
