President Kenyatta through a tweet congratulated Olunga for being the first Kenyan footballer to score a goal in the La Liga and the first player to score a hat-trick for Girona FC in the Spanish LaligaHe urged Olunga to continue flying the Kenyan flag high "Congratulations Michael @OgadaOlunga for making history as the first Kenyan footballer to score a goal in the @LaLiga; and the first player to score a hattrick for @GironaFC in the Spanish top league. Striker Michael Olunga became the first ever Girona FC and Kenyan player to score a hat-trick in LaLiga as he led his team to a 6-0 win against Las Palmas in a game week 19 league clash at the Municipal de Montilivi stadium on Saturday 13 January 2018
