Reports from credible sources intimate that Raila made frantic calls to State House to have controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna released on Monday in vain.

"He tried to reach Uhuru but not positive response was forthcoming. Raila left JKIA a dejected man," said a source in confidence.

And the new working relationship continues to be tested in the ongoing saga over Miguna's citizenship status, a move that has already sparked heated exchanges between Jubilee and ODM.

New Senate Minority Leader James Orengo, on Wednesday asked Judge George Odunga to issue a warrant of arrest for Interior CS Fred Matiang'i, who he accuses of contempt of court.

"From February 2, all court orders in this matter have been defied and disregarded. We invite you to punish them ," he said in reference to six months jail for contempt of court.

For the fourth time in as many months, the government failed to produce Miguna in court, a move that throws Matiang'i, IG Joseph Boinet and the Immigration department into a precarious position.

Among the issues Raila had demanded to be addressed by government includes respecting independent institutions.
