Gatundu North MP Wanjiku Kibe now says that last month handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Party  leader Raila Odinga will not compromise Mt Kenya region's support for Deputy President William Ruto in 2022.

Kibe  argues that speculations going round that the handshake is weakening DP Ruto are malicious and unfounded.

According to  Kibe,  Uhuru and Raila’s famous handshake has nothing to do with 2022 succession politics.

“People should stop speculating on the handshake because what we know is that it did not or will not have anything to do with the 2022 succession politics,” Kibe told journalist's on Friday at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi.

Kibe said that President Uhuru Kenyatta will keep the promise he made to support Ruto in 2022.

The Jubilee  MP said there is nothing that is going to stop Mt Kenya and the Jubilee administration from backing DP Ruto.

She  added that Raila is only engaging with the government on matters unity and reconciliation.

The  Gatundu North  MP at the same time  asked politician’s to stop fueling unnecessary speculations in regards to 2022 as it is creating tension in the country.

She also asked Raila to stop insinuating  that his friendship with President Uhuru Kenyatta is in his favour.

The  Uhuru-Raila handshake last month continues to elicit reactions  as Odinga  meets key politician's considered as DP Ruto’s allies.
