Two main political rivals in the October 17 presidential polls, are at war again, this time, over the date set for fresh polls.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) set the said date, on Monday September 11, few hours after Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i, wrote to request it to consider the school examinations calendar, and conduct the election, before October 17.

However one of the contestants, Opposition's Raila Odinga, has dismissed the date, saying his NASA coalition was not consulted. According to him, the date was set by his rival, Jubilee Party's President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He wants the election moved to October 24 or 31, a move that has seen Uhuru 'rain' on him.

Uhuru expressed disappointment after the Supreme Curt nullified his win, warned the ODM party leader against causing any uncertainties over the IEBC date.

Uhuru warned that he was tired of Raila’s determination to ''deny the majority their right'' by opposing everything that IEBC says.

He asked Raila to decide whether he wanted another election or he was busy twisting people's minds, over a simple election date, and resignation of some IEBC officials.

"You cannot deny the majority their right for the sake of one man. He has said that he will not accept the election to be held on October 17 as ordered by the court. We don’t want more trouble. We are almost tired,” Uhuru said, Tuesday.

Raila released several issues that IEBC should address, before he goes to another poll, issues Uhuru said were pointless.

Uhuru was speaking during a campaign  rally in Kajiado, while Raila addressed the press at the Wilson Airport, ahead of the Kisii, and Nyamira county rallies.
