Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has questioned the outcome of the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga on Friday last week.
According to Abdullahi, the reaction from legislators allied to the National Super Alliance (NASA) showcases that the political conflict was not centered around ordinary Kenyans.
In his view, the welcome of Deputy President William Ruto in the Coast by opposition legislators is a sign that the truce between Uhuru and Raila had nothing to do with the needs of Kenyans and he believes Kenyans were used by the leaders.
"NASA MPS falling over one another to welcome Deputy President...and celebrating wildly in parliament...so the conflict/dispute had nothing to do with ordinary Kenyans?...and looks like the solution and the handshake have nothing to do with Wanjiku...a doormat remains a doormat," tweeted the lawyer on Saturday.
The lawyer further blamed Raila for the violence and chaos that the country was subjected to after the August 2017 elections that led to economic downfall.
"So Kenya was burning due to the grievances of a single man...Hon Raila? With a simple handshake extended to him by HE Uhuru, the Economy is 'booming', shilling is 'strong' against the dollar, crime is 'down', rain is pouring down, bed occupancy in hotels at 'record levels'," added Abdullahi.
