Despite a pending court case on validity of Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama's victory, both camps seems spirited in early campaigns.

Justice James Makau is set to continue hearing the case that was filed by Walter Nyambati, a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta with a determination set in February.

But even before the verdict, Nyambati's camp is running a campaign, maintaining thart elections shall be repeated.

"I urge all of you to consider me when we go for a by election. My victory was robbed and this time we shall truely show how we won," Nyambati said at a funeral on Friday.

On his part, Governor Nyagarama maintains that he won fairly and has often insisted that he is ready for the court outcome.

"My opponents behave as if we are going for an election. And even then, I am always ready given that I believe elections were free and fair."

Moments before October repeat polls, Uhuru maintained that he was keenly following Nyamira gubernatorial petition.

Nyagarama, a confidant of NASA leader Raila Odinga, has often traversed the vast county with the veteran leader during 2017 heated campaigns.
