NASA leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta are set to meet in a series of private meetings to end the IEBC stalemate as the nation edge closer to the October 26 repeat polls.

Religious leaders led by Kenya Catholic Bishops Congress chairman Philip Anyolo have indicated that they have written letters to the two leaders urging them to meet to reach a consensus.

"We have already written to Uhuru and Raila. They have been quiet about it but we are optimistic that starting tomorrow (Monday) they should be willing to meet us and other stakeholders involved in these efforts," said Anyolo.

The clergy has expressed fear of violence owing to the tension building up in the country but stated that the solution lies in a roundtable meeting between Odinga and Uhuru.

"The level of emotions is really high. But this is the time the voice of reason must prevail. We all want to cross the river but we must first build the bridge. This can only be achieved through round-table dialogue," said Bishop Alfred Rotich.
