A section of Jubilee Party and Opposition, NASA leaders are in agreement on the fate of remaining IEBC commissioners after Monday's resignation of their three colleagues.
Accusing Chairman Wafula Chebukati of poor leadership, Commissioner Connie Maina who also serves as Vice Chairperson, Amb Dr Paul Kurgat, and Margaret Mwachanya said their decision to quit became inevitable after Chebukati suspended CEO Ezra Chiloba without following due process.
Now both Senate Minority and Majority leaders agree that the entire IEBC Commision should go home.
Minority leader James Orengo on Monday alleged the IEBC crew was captured by the state to rig the presidential elections last year.
Eventually, he claimed, the commissioners and staff became greedy players in the procurement process.
"There are no longer good or bad commissioners in IEBC. The organization is cursed," Orengo said.
According to the Siaya Senator, the Wafula Chebukati led Commission has miserably failed accountability, efficiency and accuracy tests as stipulated in the constitution.
He said: "Corruption is deeply rooted in its operations for which (Chris) Msando had to be brutally murdered to secure its fraudulent activities."
On his part, Senate's Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen issued a seven day's notice to the remaining IEBC Commissioners failure to which he would institute measures to have a tribunal in place to investigate them.
"Chebukati, Molu & Guliye MUST resign from IEBC within the next 7 days or we form a Tribunal to investigate them," the Elgeyo Marakwet senator said via his Twitter page.
Meanwhile, Wafula Chebukati revealed that he had not received resignation letters from the pro-Ezra Chiloba trio officially. He said he knew of their resignation through the media like every other Kenyan.
