Uasin Gishu County Chairman of Gospel Ministers Bishop Wilson Kurui has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga to embrace dialogue for sanity to prevail in the country ahead of the fourth coming elections.
He said they should talk to each other and not name calling which has been the norm.
“I want to call upon the two leaders to swallow their pride and engage dialogue on contentious issues before the October 26 elections. Let the two sit and agree without their lieutenants,” he said in Eldoret town, Wednesday.
“This will help to tone down the political temperatures that have been witnessed in the recent past and also bring peace. They should put in mind that this country is bigger than an individual,” he added.
He, however, warned politicians against using utterances that might trigger war in their campaigns.
“Politicians should sell their presidential candidates manifestos peacefully without name calling and using inciting utterances. We should put in mind that we don’t have a spare country, if we burn it we are done,” noted Bishop Kurui.
He called upon Christians to at least spend 30 minutes daily to pray for peaceful elections.
