Kenya and Tanzanian relationship may improve substantially after both countries lifted various bans imposed on each other.
Prior to elections, ties between the two countries had greatly diminished to an extent that Tanzania had closed her borders over irreconcilable differences.
At Namanga border point, traders were barred from carrying business across the border, a move that attracted criticism from a number of investors.
And Kenyan Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed revealed that both countries had agreed on the ‘mutual’ working relationships.
“It is time that we move on and I must assure you no more reprisals. We have worked don the same and I am happy that there is mutual consent.
“We may have had our own differences but as neighbours, we must live as brothers and that I the assurance we have got from the other side,” she added.
Throughout their time in office, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his counterpart John Magufuli have only met twice with Magufuli being associated with Kenya’s opposition leader Raila Odinga.
A diplomatic row almost erupted between the two countries prior to Kenyan elections as Uhuru accused Magufuli of allowing Odinga to set a parallel tallying centre in Tanzania.
