President Uhuru Kenyatta visited Kisii County where he commissioned and launched development projects including the Kisii Level Five Hospital and addressed residents of Kenyenya and Mogonga in a public rally where he urged them to focus on development politics.
"I urged you to focus on development politics and refrain from listening to leaders who want to divide Kenyans. Let leaders who want Kenyans to fight send their own children to fight," said Uhuru.
"Jubilee is committed to the development and so far 710 schools in Kisii have been connected to the national electric grid. Only 46 schools remain and we will connect them in the coming weeks," said Uhuru.
Uhuru at the same time thanked Kisii leaders and residents and called for leaders to exercise democracy.
"We may have differences in ideas and philosophies but democracy is letting the people decide and respecting their choice. I thank the people and leaders of Kisii County because of their commitment to development," said Uhuru.
"They have accepted to work in co-operation with the national government to drive the development agenda forward," added Uhuru.
The head of state also reviewed the progress of the construction of the Kenyenya Technical Training College and launched the construction of road works.
President Kenyatta is expected to wrap up his Kisii visit by re-launching the National Youth Service, NYS Cohort Programme.
Deputy president, William Ruto accompanied the president during the visit.
