President Uhuru Kenyatta has now told the African Union (AU) that the National Super Alliance (NASA) is behind plans to sabotage the August 8, polls.

While meeting, African Union election observers led by former South Africa president Thabo Mbeki on Wednesday, Uhuru said recent complaints from NASA on the election preparedness are a clear indication that the opposition is out to frustrate the elections.

“We have persistently declared that we are ready to accept the will of the people, but the opposition adamantly refuses to submit itself to that commitment. The reason is simple. Subversion of the will of Kenyans,” he said.

Kenyatta said the opposition is aiming for chaos and is not interested in a fair contest where voters chose the victorious.

He also attacked NASA of trying to manipulate security officers who are the main custodian of law and order during the August polls.

“The responsibility of securing the elections and the country lies with the government,” he said.
