After speculations from the Opposition that President Uhuru Kenyatta was involved in the killin gof Mumias Sugar Manager Ronald Lubya, the president has responded.
Uhuru accused NASA chiefs of inciting citizens and demanded that they provide evidence for their claims.
He said this at the beginning of his two-day tour of Kisii region on Tuesday.
Lubya was shot dead on Sunday night at his house by a gang of unknown men.
NASA leader Musalia Mudavadi had on Saturday, during their Kakamega rally, warned that the government was targetting corporate bosses to provide Jubilee with campaign funds and that the Mumias boss was among those threatened.
Uhuru has now called for issue-based politics while addressing residents at Masimba Secondary School in Nyaribari Chache.
"If you have information on the killing, give it to police. [How will making claims at a political rally help]? Let us not incite Kenyans or cause unnecessary tension," he said.
He said that Raila and othe rleaders in NASA should sell their policies to Kenyans, not propaganda.
"Our competitors are focusing on propaganda, divisive politics and abuses. I'm campaigning on the strength of my achievements and what I intend to do in the next five years," he said.
