Just a day after Chief Justice David Maraga and his team delivered the much-awaited comprehensive ruling on the nullification of the August 8 presidential results, President Uhuru Kenyatta has responded.
While speaking on Thursday, at State House, Nairobi when meeting leaders from North Eastern, Uhuru said he was disappointed by the verdict because it has denied listening to the voice of the people.
"We thought we are instilling democracy and entrenching devolution to ensure equity in the distribution of national resources so that no Kenyan is left behind but we have seen miracles were only four people can determine the voice of the people," he said.
"The citizen has been told that he has no voice but only four people if this is not dictatorship then I don't no any other name to give it," he added.
Uhuru maintained his stand that if the courts really wanted to know who won the August 8 polls then they should have gone back to the ballot boxes and ordered a recount.
"If you hear somebody saying numbers don't matter but the process, yet they say neither IEBC or the President was found guilty of malpractice and refuse to go back to the source document which is the citizen's vote then that is a political coup," he said.
Finally, Uhuru said even developed democracy such as Germany use manual systems to conduct their polls yet in Kenya, the election is nullified based on processes.
"German courts stated that their electoral process will be conducted on a manual system because they have found out that these electronic systems have problems and cannot be relied on fully, yet Kenya a country that is still rising on matters development we are told process is important," he said.
The Head of State also reaffirmed that he is still the Commander-In-Chief.
