President Uhuru Kenyatta will on Thursday tour the Coast region to launch different projects and rally the electorate to back his re-election.
Speaking during an interview with The Star, Senior Communications Director at State House Munyori Buku said that Uhuru will tour different areas in Lamu, Kilifi, Kwale, Taita Taveta and Mombasa. “Tentatively that’s the programme, but it may be adjusted depending on other factors,” he said, as quoted by the daily. This is the third time the Head of State is touring the Coast, in a bid to weaken the massive support opposition leader Raila Odinga enjoys in the region, ahead of the August polls. The President's Coast tours have always sparked mixed reactions among different politicians in the country. In January, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho publicly differed with the President over development projects in the county. The governor accused Uhuru of hijacking projects initiated by past regimes and challenged him to show what he has done for Coast residents.
