President Uhuru Kenyatta has accused NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga of intending to cause chaos in the country after the August 8 general election.
Addressing his supporters at Chaka in Nyeri County on Thursday, the President alleged Raila, working with the Supreme Court judges, overturned his August 8 poll victory anticipating the country would plunge into violence following the ruling.
"I know for sure I won the August 8 election but a few individuals working with my opponents reversed the victory because they wanted me and my deputy to oppose the fresh poll so that the country could burn," said Uhuru, as quoted by the People Daily.
The Supreme Court on September 1 annulled Uhuru's win following Raila's successful petition.
The Chief Justice David Maraga-led top court cited 'illegalities' and 'irregularities' in the exercise conducted by the IEBC. It ordered for a fresh election within 60 days.
President Uhuru said he is sure of winning the repeat poll despite the Supreme Court setback.
"I as your President I am not worried about the forthcoming poll because the God who ensured that I won it in the first round is still alive and all my supporters are alive so I will carry the day," Uhuru was further quoted by the local daily.
